The Martian Matt Damon to take on Akshay Kumar's Bliing

Hollywood actor Matt Damon-starrer The Martian has some bling-y competition waiting for it in India. The film, directed by Ridley Scott, will clash with Akshay Kumar's Singh Is Bliing when it release in India on October 2, which is observed as Gandhi Jayanti.

The space action adventure film is to release in India on the same day as the US. Mark Watney, played with the usual charm and biting wit by Matt Damon is caught in an accident during an expedition on Mars. His crew, believing him dead, leaves. Watney, a biochemist, is left to fend for himself on a planet where nothing grows. His supplies are scheduled to run out in 31 days and by his most modest calculations, a rescue mission by NASA will take at least 4 years. If he can find a way to contact them, that is.

Both the films will get a three-day long release window, given the fact that Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday. The Martian is based on Andy Weir's 2011 novel of the same name. The film also features Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in supporting roles.

Meanwhile, Prabhudheva directed Singh Is Bling is an action comedy, which also features Amy Jackson, Lara Dutta and Kay Kay Menon. The film is being talked about for its action sequences.

Kumbh Super-Cop: He Jumped 20 Feet Into the River to Save a Life

A devotee attending the Kumbh Mela in Nashik in Maharashtra tried to kill himself by jumping off a bridge into the waters of the River Godavari below.

A 24-year-old policeman on duty, Manoj Barahate, dove right in after him and saved the stranger's life. His act of bravery was caught on security cameras.

On Twitter, Praveen Gedam, the top official of the local corporation, said the police office had jumped off "a 20-feet-high bridge".

The Kumbh Mela -- a celebration of faith in which Hindus bathe in a sacred river -- is held every third year and is rotated between four holy sites.

It is held at Nashik every 12 years and, although it isn't on the same scale as the editions on the Ganga at Haridwar and the Sangam at Allahabad, it still draws millions of pilgrims.

Thirty-nine pilgrims were trampled to death and dozens injured when the religious festival was last held by the Godavari river in Nashik, around 100 miles northeast of Mumbai, in 2003. Local officials say they have made meticulous arrangements to ensure the safety of pilgrims this year.

Mr Gedam, as an example, tweeted a picture of policemen standing in the water forming a human chain to ensure more pilgrims didn't enter the river till the incumbents had finished offering their prayers and vacated the ghat or steps where the  devotees enter the water.

Why You Shouldn't Date Your Colleagues?

Is dating a coworker a good idea? Well, it depends upon a lot of factors. But if you take a look at both sides of the coin, you will come to know that dating work colleagues may not go well except in some rare cases. There are some solid reasons why office romance could be dangerous.

Signs He Is Very Insecure
As most of us tend to spend almost the whole day in the office, we tend to get attracted to colleagues. If things stop there, you are in the safe zone. But some men who blindly form attachments with their colleagues try to take it further and generally face awkward situations. When a man tries to genuinely love, what if the woman co-worker perceives it in a wrong way? Well, she may hyper react or create an awkward situation which may make things ugly in the workplace.

Signs She Isn't Marriage Material
So, is it a bad idea to date a coworker? Well, take a look at some of the risks of doing so. Analyse the pros and cons and take the final decision.

  • She May Misunderstand Your Advances: Of course, when you keep staring at her, she may get scared. And when you try to talk to her at every given opportunity, she may find you creepy even if you have genuine feelings in your heart.
  • She May Create A Scene: If she gets intimidated, she may even create a scene or drama in front of everyone, which might shock you. You think she is your love but she thinks you are a stalker.
  • She May Scream: Some women take it to the next level and even scream at men who try to propose them in the workplace. Of course, they have their own reasons. The are frustrated to see men running behind them everywhere.
  • Your Professional Relationship Goes For A Toss: Of course, once your colleague starts perceiving you in bad light, how would you feel like showing your face again to her?
  • Your Image In The Office May Get Damaged: Some people in offices are gossip engines. So, the word spreads everywhere. Everyone around you will start perceiving you as if you tried to do some ugly thing.
  • You May Feel Awkward To Work There: When your image gets damaged, you tend to lose interest in working there. This may either make you resign soon or you may try to find a new job.
  • You May Lose Your Job: If the management also perceives your behaviour as unpleasant, they may politely show you the door.

This way, there are certain issues that arise when you are dating a coworker. Beware of them and take the risk only if it is worth it; that too when she can really understand your true inner feelings. Generally, men are misunderstood. So, be careful when venturing into such a territory.

Why men hunt for slim women as life partners

Why do slim and curvy women attract most men the most? Learn it from a novel “evolutionary fitness” model that predicts why modern males scout for physically attractive and slim female partners.

The model, created by scientists from the University of Aberdeen in Britain based on evolutionary theories, first predicted that men would perceive women with a body mass index (BMI) of between 24 and 24.8 as being the most physically attractive and healthy.

They tested the prediction on more than 1,300 people, both males and females, from Britain and nine other countries.

Participants were shown 21 image cards showing females with different levels of body fatness and were asked to reorder them from least to most attractive.
In all the populations, males and females rated physical attractiveness of the female images very similarly. The very thinnest images with body mass index of around 19 were rated as most attractive. As fatness increased above that value, the less attractive they were rated.

This, however, contrasted the predictions of the mathematical “fitness” model that there should be a peak in attractiveness around a BMI of 24 to 24.8.

When the age factor was included into the model, the optimum fatness fell to a BMI somewhere between 17 and 20.

“This suggests that we find thinness in females so attractive because we equate it with youth,” said lead researcher professor John Speakman from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology.

A BMI of 17-20 corresponds to the average BMI of a young 18-20 years old with maximal fertility and minimal risk of future disease. This was consistent across European, African and Asian test groups.

Fitness in evolutionary terms comprises two things: survival and the ability to reproduce. One idea about how we rate physical attractiveness is based on the impact that different aspects of our bodies (like body fatness) have on evolutionary fitness.

“For example, we know that above a certain body fatness females have greater risks of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease and lower fertility which might make fatter subjects less attractive,” noted Speakman.

In the past, fatter people might have had greater abilities to survive famines, making fatness more attractive.

“This might suggest there is an optimum level of fatness that is maximally attractive which is somewhere in between,” Speakman noted.

Although most people will not be surprised that extreme thinness was perceived as the most attractive body type, “the important advance is that now we have an evolutionary understanding of why this is the case,” said Lobke Vaanholt from the University of Aberdeen.

Sooraj Pancholi on girlfriend Jiah Khan: Two years after her death, the Hero star finally speaks up

Sooraj Pancholi, who hit the headlines two years ago when he was arrested for his involvement in girlfriend Jiah Khan's death case, says he still misses her a lot and has no qualms if his name is associated with her. Sooraj's life had turned upside down when his name cropped up. He was arrested on abetment to suicide charges and sent to jail.

"My name will always be associated with her and I have no guilt for that. I am happy that something at least stays with me. I am sad that she ended her life. But at least her name is with me and I have no problems with it," Sooraj told PTI.
Jiah, the 25-year-old British-American actor, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her Juhu home in 2013. Sooraj met Jiah through Facebook and then after sometime the two fell in love. "I miss her. I miss her everyday of my life. I am missing her while I am sitting with you right now. If I loved a person so much I would miss her," said the 25-year-old Hero star.

"She was five years elder to me. She was more mature than me. I was 21-year-old then and she was 26. She knew more about the industry than me," said the actor. Sooraj faced further mental trauma when Jiah's mother Rabia Khan alleged that he was responsible for her daughter's death.
"I don't know if she (Rabia) is against me. If she feels that there is some foul play in this case, then she has all the right to verify it," Sooraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, said.
"But if she is doing it just to harass me then I would not want to say anything. Truth will definitely come out. If she is doing it for some specific purpose then God is watching," he added.
Sooraj will soon be making his debut as an actor in the remake of the 1983 film Hero, which is co-produced By Salman Khan and Subhash Ghai. The Nikhil Advani-directed film, in which Sooraj is paired opposite Athiya Shetty, is releasing on September 11 this year.

Cristiano Ronaldo: My challenge is always to be best

The Real Madrid star opened up about what inspires him, his a life away from football and his biggest fear.
Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is always clear about his goal at all times. It’s one that’s simple and uncomplicated – be the best.
“My challenge is always, year-to-year, trying to be the best—training hard to get myself 100% all the time,” Ronaldo said following the 2015 Nike Tech Fleece Jacket launch on Thursday.
“My main goal is to always achieve this kind of success. This is what I am trying to do all of the time, and the last eight, nine, ten years I think have gone pretty well. So I try to keep going like that,” he added.
The 30-year-old has won the Ballon d’Or thrice and has achieved the highest honours in club football but his life away from the game is far less extravagant than one might expect.
“(I’m) a normal person. I try to do normal stuff, surrounded by my family, my friends, my son. Just trying to be as normal as possible. I'm just training in the morning, so when I arrive home I get to do other things that make me feel comfortable,” the Champions League winner revealed.
It comes as no surprise then that Ronaldo picked spending time with his son when asked about his passions away from the pitch.
“I have many, but I will just mention one, which is playing with my kid,” he beamed.
Waking up every day and pushing yourself to the limits in order to be the best in the world is no mean feat but Ronaldo is fueled by the people around him.
“The people who I work with, the people around me—they are always giving me motivation and the opportunity to work hard and be good. They give me good vibes, good energy, and I think that that is the most important thing for me,” he enthused.

The Portuguese skipper also opened up about his deepest fear, revealing that he wants to live a long and healthy life.
“Dying young (is my greatest fear). I don't want to die young. I want to be old and die when I’m 80 or 90,” the former Manchester United winger said.
As for what goes through his mind when he’s standing in the tunnel before a game, Ronaldo says his mindset is one that’s pretty composed and simple.
“Nothing special (that I think about). I try to enjoy it. Playing football is what I like to do. So I just enjoy it, the sport, and I want to allow the fans and the public to enjoy it, too,” he concluded.

Shahrukh Khan Talks About The Film With Aamir And Salman Khan

Shahrukh Khan recently talked about the movie plan with Aamir, Salman and himself in detail to a leading daily. While he spoke about a lot of other things, our focus goes on this interesting topic that every Khan fan wants to know about.

Shahrukh Khan felt that it could be a little difficult for such a thing to happen, considering all three are mainstream heroes. He said, "I think it's difficult to do a three-hero film, especially when all the three heroes are leading mainstream actors. A lot of times, it gets difficult to make a film with even two smaller heroes, as both think of themselves as stars (smiles)." He further added, "In this case, the three of us are actually stars. But, I feel, it might not be a problem. All three of us are humble enough to understand that we are doing a film [together].

We have to choose a film in which all three of us are equal. We should do [a film like] Ghostbusters (1984). That film has equal roles for all the three heroes (laughs)." Then he revealed a joke Salman cracked, "One day, Salman cracked a joke. He said, "Guys, we three won't do a film together. We will only end up fighting. One will keep using his brains, another will finish the work quickly, and someone will not reach the sets on time." So, we discuss stuff like this."

Shahrukh further discussed this topic in detail, "Today, if I were to write [a script] for Varun (Dhawan), Ranveer (Singh) and Ranbir (Kapoor), it would be hard. Not only because they should have equal roles, but because it must do justice to them all. It's a difficult proposition to write a three-hero film, and then get three heroines, and three villains (smiles). If it happens, it's great and even if it doesn't, that's also good.

The three of us don't exist because we should be in cinema together. Instead, we exist because we should be in cinema." Well, we hope like what SRK expects, some brilliant scriptwriter manages to write a good film with three leading heroes, so that we can see the Khans' acting together.
