MTV Roadies Winners: Where are they now?

The youth reality show MTV Roadies recently concluded its season 12 and hasn’t lost its popularity even now.

Audiences identified with the winners of each season and even rallied around them, forming support groups and fan pages.

But, what have each of the season winners gone on to achieve after their first bout of success? Where are these winners now?

Season 1: Rannvijay Singh

Rannvijay is easily the most identifiable and popular face of the show.

Having won it in the first season, Rannvijay first joined as a VJ with MTV and then became the host, and finally the judge of the show.

He has also acted in a few films and on television.

Rannvijay took over as a ‘gang-leader’ in the twelfth season and it was a member of his gang who went on to win the title of the ultimate roadie of the season.
He will host the eighth season of MTV's Splitsvilla with Sunny Leone.

Season 2: Ayushmann Khurrana

Like Rannvijay, Ayushmann too was lapped up by MTV and began to host shows for the channel.

He also interviewed the judges and participants of Roadies after vote-outs.

Ayushmann went on to host a number of television shows and events after that.

Having debuted with the successful Vicky Donor, his acting career too has taken off -- you may remember his delightful romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha that received much praise upon release not too long ago.

Season 3: Parul Shahi

Parul’s success brought in two firsts for the show.

She was the first contestant from the north east, and also the first girl to win.

With an imminently likeable personality, Parul was a favourite among several viewers.

However, not much is known of Parul as she didn’t opt for the limelight as a career path.
Season 4: Anthony Yeh

A Kolkatan of Chinese origins, Anthony was one of the humblest contestants the show had ever seen.

His success encouraged more people from the east and north east to participate in Roadies.

However like Parul, Anthony too opted to stay out of the public view after Roadies.

Season 5: Ashutosh Kaushik

Ashutosh’s rough-edged, adaptive and sometimes stubborn behaviour struck a chord with the audiences from the interiors of the country.

He followed up his success at Roadies by winning the second season of Bigg Boss.

He appeared on a few more reality television shows, and also acted in a few movies.

However, apart from the first few years in the entertainment industry, success has eluded him this far.

Season 6: Nauman Sait

Nauman’s success on the show made him a celebrity in his hometown Bangalore.

Nauman, already a local cricketer, was chosen as the face of local cricket coaching camps after Roadies.

He attained a certain level of infamy after being connected to an MMS that surfaced, featuring a couple who were reported to be him and Roadies contestant Tammanna.

Nauman participated in other MTV shows and has distanced himself from cricket.

Season 7: Anwar Syed

MBA graduate Anwar Syed won Roadies season 7.

While he was open to offers from the entertainment industry, and also the corporate world, he couldn't really establish himself in the limelight.

Season 8: Aanchal Khurana

Aanchal was the second girl to win Roadies.

After her Roadies journey, she was quick to be selected for a daily soap, for which she was appreciated.

After her soiree in the soap, she took a break.

Season 9: Vikas Khoker

Vikas Khoker had a rather uncomfortable audition, but made it to the final list of Roadies eventually.

Vikas was always a modelling and entertainment industry hopeful. While he is yet to have established himself in the industry, he has been making inroads and has been making his intent of being involved in the industry rather clear.

Season 10: Palak Johal

Palak was the third girl to win Roadies.

However, her victory is shrouded in a cloud of mystery as she reportedly went to the press after her victory and declared that the show was scripted.

After Roadies, Palak has done a few music videos. While her career is yet to be established, it is evident that her loyalties lie in entertainment.

Season 11: Nikhil Sachdeva

This was the last season where Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman were a part of Roadies.

For the same reason, for Roadies loyalists, Nikhil Sachdeva’s (or Nick’s) success could well be the last that deserved applause.

Nick battled issues with weight to emerge victorious, and was the strongest competitor of his season.

He is now going to be a part of other MTV shows and has also expressed his interest in being a part of films.

Season 12: Prince Narula

The winner of the latest season of Roadies, Prince was always considered to be one of the strongest contestants of the season.

A Mr Punjab participant, Prince is a Rannvijay loyalist and has expressed his interest in films.

His dream is to be an action hero like Akshay Kumar.

Everything You Need To Know About Kapil Sharma And Sunil Grover's Very Public Spat

It's been flooding your newsfeed, and in case you're clueless about what's going on, you've come to the right place.

Over the last week, you must have seen news of comedians Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover getting into a brawl on a flight, flooding your feed.

For those who have no idea what's going on, here's a comprehensive history of the events:

In 2013, Sharma became the face of sketch comedy/celebrity talk show Comedy Nights with Kapil on Colors. Grover was brought on the show to amplify the comedic quotient.

As his character Gutthi gained popularity, Grover decided to quit the show in order to start a new one of his own, called Mad in India on Star Plus.

One of the major reasons cited for Grover's departure was that he was denied a fee hike by Colors.

One of the major reasons cited for Grover's departure was that he was denied a fee hike by Colors.

Following his exit from CNWK, Sunil told TOI, "There is no animosity between Kapil and me. Kapil is a very close friend and it's always a pleasure working with him."

On the other hand, Sharma told IANS in an interview, "I am not the kind to feel threatened or competitive about anyone... All I can say is, he (Sunil) should have never left our show. He seems lost on the show."

Following Mad in India's awful TRP ratings, Grover decided to return to Kapil Sharma's crew.

Meanwhile, following an altercation over money with Colors, Sharma decided to take CNWK to another TV channel. Other comedians on CNWK followed suit and a new show named The Kapil Sharma Show was launched on Sony TV.

Now that you're all caught up with this history lesson, let's look at a few things that happened between Grover and Sharma over the past couple of weeks that caused a giant shitstorm:

* Early in March 2017, Sharma, along with his The Kapil Sharma Show crew, visited Australia to perform comedy shows.
* On March 18, on the flight back Sharma manhandled, assaulted and abused Grover.
* Sharma's dickery made headlines.

A crew member from Sharma's show anonymously told Hindustan Times that Sharma hurled his shoe at Grover, pulled him by his collar and slapped him.

According to the eye-witness account, Sharma got drunk and pissed at his team for eating dinner without him. He proceeded to yell at them, threatening to 'end their careers'. To Grover, Kapil said, “Gaya tha na tu toh. Aaya na waapas mere hi paas (You left. But look how you came back crawling to me)”, referring to Grover's departure from CNWK. Grover maintained his cool during the episode and the airline authorities had to calm Sharma down.

Before news of him being a class A asshole to his colleague could make way to news publications, Sharma tried wiping some shit off the fan with this Facebook status.

He also tweeted to Grover apologising for his actions.

And Grover tweeted to Sharma warning him to not "act like God":

And Sharma tried to convince everyone that all was good between him and Grover:

But everything is far from good. Grover has allegedly quit Sharma's show and says that he won't return even if his "fee was doubled".

Following the fall-out, other performers from The Kapil Sharma Show, including Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar have also decided to stop shooting for the show, in solidarity with Grover.

The channel has already brought on comedians Raju Srivastav and Ahsaan Qureshi to replace them on the show.
Another anonymous member from Kapil Sharma's team told DNA:
"Kapil is now being painted as the full-blown villain of the piece. The villain is actually his addiction to the bottle. He’s otherwise a decent and kind man, a wonderful son and a true animal-lover. Also, we from The Kapil Sharma Show team like Kapil when he is sober.”

Sony TV has failed to reconcile Sharma and Grover and, for now, the shoot has been stalled.

Bottomline: Kapil Sharma is in deep shit.

"The Carlton" makes a comeback

Alfonso Ribeiro didn't make us wait long before he revived "The Carlton" on "Dancing With the Stars." On Monday night, the former "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" star dusted off his old familiar moves in week four of the competition.

The theme of the week was "Most Memorable Year," and "Dancing" saved the best for last. After watching the other nine celebrities and their pro dancing partners run through sambas, rumbas and jives, Ribeiro and pro dancer Witney Carson took the floor with a jazz routine set to Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual" -- a.k.a. the song that Ribeiro's "Fresh Prince" character, Carlton Banks, couldn't help but dance to.

Dressed in a costume straight out of his "Fresh Prince's" character's closet -- a v-neck sweater and a bow tie -- Ribeiro looked like he was having a blast re-creating those exuberant dance steps along with Carson.

The judges were thrilled, giving the couple a perfect score.

Ribeiro acknowledged that playing Will Smith's dorkier cousin during "Fresh Prince's" six-season run in the '90s did leave him pigeonholed as an actor, but he has no grudge against the dance that's come to bear his character's name.

"I love the Carlton dance. I love how it makes people feel," he said in an interview. "I certainly don't do it a lot. But I love the fact that people have this nostalgic look at that dance. ... This was all for the fans."

Viewers haven't been as overjoyed with fashion designer Betsey Johnson's performance. She was the latest star to exit the series on Monday night.

Neymar coming to Kerala for Ayurveda treatment?

Now this is some news. The TV channels in Kerala Tuesday went berserk, saying injured Brazilian footballer Neymar was likely to come to the state to undergo ayurveda treatment for his injured back.

The Brazilian international who broke a bone in his back from a reckless challenge in the World Cup quater final game against Colombia, has been ruled out for the rest of the World Cup.

The TV channels said the Brazilian Football Federation has got in touch with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. However, Chandy has stated that nothing of that sort has happened.

He said there was a request from football fans in Kerala, asking the government to put up a proposal for treating Neymar using ayurveda. "I spoke to Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, who called up leading doctors of the state-run ayurveda college here. They got details of Neymar's injury through the internet and (were) studying what sort of treatment should be adopted."

"We were planning to tell the media about this tomorrow (Wednesday). But now that everything is out in the media, with distortions, the health minister will tell you all." "Please don't get it wrong, we are only going to decide whether to put up a proposal to Neymar whether he wants our treatment," Chandy said.
